Expect another raft of bans

Even before the whole VAPI (Vaping Associated Pulmonary Injury) debacle in the US, briefly covered here, former FDA commissioner was not happy with pod mods. JUUL in particular. On several occasions over the course 2018, Mr Gottlieb was insistent that JUUL alone was the cause of, what he called, an “epidemic” of youth use of e-cigarettes.

Independent science confirms industry findings

A tale of two meta-analysis

Last month (October 2019) saw the publication of two meta-analysis of heat-not-burn research that looked at both industry, and independent, science. However, the tone of both papers was markedly different. The first of which, entitled “New ideas, old problems? Heated tobacco products – a systematic review” leaned more towards the “eh, they’re not all that good really” type conclusion despite the clear evidence that they are; while the second – entitled “Human Biomarker Exposure from Cigarettes versus Novel Heat-Not-Burn Devices: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis” – was somewhat more positive. I don’t make up the titles by the way.

Here at Heat not Burn UK we’re always watching the news for anything that relates to your favourite reduced-harm nicotine products. Most of what we find is pretty dry – usually some article about the effect of iQOS sales on share prices that we can barely understand. Sometimes we do come up with interesting little gems, though, and this week our biggest finds were two new devices that are now on sale in trial markets.
