In the heat-not-burn market, IQOS is the dominant force. After all, PMI have spent a rather large amount of cash on research and development of the product (not to mention commissioning multiple scientific studies which independent science mostly agrees with). It is no wonder, then, that IQOS is popular. It is a very good product.

With the next decade just around the corner – scary thought that – it’s time for those dastardly things called “resolutions”. It is a well-known fact that the vast majority don’t stick to those past the first month. They usually consist of “go to the gym more”, “eat better”, “drink less” or “quit smoking (or pretend to)”.

Yes, pretend to quit smoking. As with many other smokers we all, as a matter of course, decided to try again to give up smoking at the turn of a new year. Don’t ask me why we did that. We just did. Some, admittedly, were successful and props to them. Others, like me and thousands of others, barely made it a month.

Vaping both causes, and fixes, vascular function

Before we get to this article we would like to point out that although very much primarily we are all about heat not burn technology we will occasionally cross over into the world of vaping because there are quite a few similarities between the two.

Last month saw two very different studies, from the same field of research, reach completely opposite conclusions in relation to vaping. I’ll give you 30 seconds to guess which one of these two studies saw the widest possible media coverage:

  1. Short-term e-cigarette vapour exposure causes vascular oxidative stress and dysfunction: evidence for a close connection to brain damage and a key role of the phagocytic NADPH oxidase
